Nothing says summer in Maine quite like gathering around a table with good food, fresh air, and friends and family gathered together. Whether you’re hosting a backyard barbecue, a coastal picnic, or a casual evening on the patio, these Mediterranean-inspired dips are the perfect addition to your summer spread.

Featuring creamy feta, cool cucumber, roasted peppers, and plenty of fresh herbs, these three easy dips bring bright, fresh flavors that pair perfectly with warm pita, crisp vegetables, crackers, or your favorite local bread. They’re simple to make, easy to share, and guaranteed to be a crowd-pleaser at your next Maine summer gathering.

Serve with: toasted baguette slices

This warm, cheesy dip is the ultimate crowd-pleaser for summer entertaining. Creamy feta is baked until golden and topped with a drizzle of sweet and spicy hot honey for a flavor combination that feels both Mediterranean and perfectly suited for a New England table. Serve it warm with toasted bread or crackers and watch it disappear.

Ingredients

  • 6 oz feta cheese block, crumbled

  • 3 oz cream cheese, softened

  • 2 Tbsp plain Greek yogurt

  • 2 tbsp Maine honey

  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes

  • 1 small garlic clove, minced

  • 1 tsp olive oil

  • ½ tsp lemon zest

  • Fresh cracked black pepper

  • Optional toppings: chopped pistachios or walnuts, fresh thyme, extra olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.

  2. Add feta, cream cheese, Greek yogurt, honey, red pepper flakes, garlic, olive oil, lemon zest, and black pepper

  3. Mix well until combined, use immersion blender to whip it up

  4. Bake uncovered for 20 minutes, until warm, creamy, and slightly bubbly.

  5. Remove from oven and drizzle with extra hot honey. Add pistachios/walnuts and thyme if using.

Cool, creamy, and packed with fresh garden flavors, tzatziki is the perfect summer dip for warm Maine days. Made with Greek yogurt, crisp cucumber, bright lemon, and plenty of fresh herbs, this refreshing dip pairs beautifully with pita, fresh vegetables, grilled seafood, or anything coming off the backyard grill.

For the best flavor, use herbs straight from your garden or local farmers market!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt (local if available)

  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice

  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

  • 1 clove garlic, minced

  • 2 tbsp fresh garden dill, chopped

  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley or mint (optional)

  • ½ cup grated cucumber, drained

  • Pinch of sea salt and cracked pepper

Instructions

  1. Grate the cucumber and squeeze out any excess moisture using a clean kitchen towel or paper towel. This helps keep the tzatziki thick and creamy.

  2. In a bowl, combine Greek yogurt, lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, dill, and optional parsley or mint.

  3. Stir in the drained cucumber and season with salt and pepper to taste.

  4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to blend.

  5. Garnish with extra fresh herbs and a drizzle of olive oil before serving. Enjoy with pita, crackers, fresh vegetables, or as a refreshing sauce for grilled seafood and meats.

Smoky, creamy, and slightly spicy, htipiti is a Greek roasted red pepper dip that brings a burst of flavor to any summer spread. The combination of fire-roasted peppers, tangy feta, and a touch of Maine honey creates the perfect balance of savory, sweet, and heat.

Serve it alongside warm bread, crackers, or fresh vegetables for an easy appetizer that feels right at home at a Maine gathering.

Ingredients

  • 2 fire-roasted red peppers

  • 4 oz feta cheese

  • ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil

  • 1 tbsp chili flakes (adjust to your spice preference)

  • 1 tbsp Maine honey (optional, for a touch of sweetness)

  • Pinch of salt and pepper

  • Fresh herbs for garnish (dill, parsley, or oregano)

Instructions

  1. Add the roasted red peppers, feta cheese, olive oil, chili flakes, and Maine honey (if using) to a food processor.

  2. Blend until smooth and creamy, or leave slightly chunky for a more rustic texture.

  3. Taste and season with salt and pepper as needed.

  4. Transfer to a serving bowl and garnish with fresh herbs and a drizzle of olive oil.

  5. Serve chilled or at room temperature with warm pita, toasted bread, crackers, or fresh-cut vegetables.
